Research

Healthy eating starts with healthy food choices made at purchase settings. Each day, individuals make many food decisions. In order to make an informed and conscious food decision that promotes a positive long term outcome, a high level of self-control seems to be a prerequisite. Unfortunately, many of our daily food decisions are made under low self-control conditions and involve unhealthy choices. In my project, I will investigate how a low level of self-control can be beneficial. By applying social influence and persuasion techniques to food decision contexts, I will try to influence people to make healthy choices under conditions of low self-control.
